Iveta Hrabovská, founder and author of premium jams Gentlejam, created a unique product that combines traditional jams with premium alcohol. This innovative approach elevated jams to a luxury gift product that appeals to the most demanding gourmets. In 10 years, she managed to create not only awareness and demand in a market that did not know this product before, but also to prepare unique special editions with the best chefs.  

Beginnings without investors

Gentlejam started without the support of external investors, which meant that Iveta and her team had to be creative and efficient in managing finances. However, this independence gave them the freedom to make decisions according to their own ideas and maintain control over the direction of the company. The security of their own resources allowed them to grow organically and maintain the authenticity of the brand.

A hard lesson from the start 

After a year of operation, an irresistible offer came. Ideal for launching the business. And after just a few weeks, it was clear that the offer was too good. They overcame a financial fraud that cost them significant resources in the early stages of business. This experience was a hard lesson that taught Iveta and her team to be more cautious and thorough not only in choosing business partners but also in considering financial risk and financial planning. 

The Covid-19 pandemic forced many companies to rethink their strategies, and Iveta took this opportunity to shift marketing activities to LinkedIn, which proved to be very effective. This step not only increased the visibility of Gentlejam but also significantly contributed to the increase in sales, as it reached a new target group of customers.

Personal branding as the foundation of success

In an interview, Iveta emphasizes the importance of personal branding and customer trust, especially with an exclusive product portfolio. For Iveta, personal branding is a key element of success. She believes that customers buy from people, not brands, and therefore it is important to build trust and an authentic relationship with customers. Iveta actively communicates with her community, shares stories and the company's behind-the-scenes, thereby strengthening customer relationships and loyalty.

Private life and new challenges

During this interesting business journey, her life changed fundamentally in private as well. Thanks to the adoption of three Roma children, which brought new challenges to her business as well. She learned to delegate tasks effectively and trust her team so she could devote more time to her family. This experience also gave her a new perspective on life and business, strengthened her empathy and problem-solving ability.
